Overview
The UG96 is a penta-band UMTS/HSPA module featuring maximum data rates of 7.2Mbps downlink and 5.76Mbps uplink. Fully pin-to-pin compatible with Quectel’s UG95 module, it is designed to provide customers with global network coverage through UMTS/HSPA/HSUPA connectivity, and is also fully backward-compatible with existing EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks, allowing integrators and developers to design their applications once and then draw flexibly on the world’s most prevalent cellular technologies.
The UG96’s compact and cost-effective SMT form factor of 22.5mm × 26.5mm × 2.2mm in an LGA package makes it ideal for applications requiring low power consumption and mechanical intensity, as well as high volumes calling for automated manufacturing, while the module’s temperature range of -40°C to +85°C allows it to function reliably on sites without cooling or heating systems.
A rich set of internet protocols, industry-standard interfaces (USB/UART/I2C/Status Indicator/PCM) and abundant functionalities (USB drivers for Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows CE, Linux, Android/eCall) allow the module to serve a wide range of IoT applications including wireless POS, telematics, security, and metering, as well as industrial tablets, PDAs and PCs.
