Smartmation enjoys ‘smart streetlight moment’ with Quectel modules

Quectel has successfully co-operated with Smartmation to enable its strategy to bring smart lighting controls to market. Smartmation selected Quectel for its wide range of state-of-the-art and affordable modules, and for the continuous support Quectel provides to its customers.

Smartmation has utilized the high-performance GPS L80R, an ultra-compact GPS POT (patch on top) module with an embedded antenna which is ideal for smart lighting.  The company also selected Quectel’s BG95 Cat M1/Cat NB2/EGPRS module which features ultra-low power consumption and a cost-effective SMT form factor of 23.6mm x 19.9mm x 2.2mm.  The Quectel modules enable Smartmation to control either single luminaires with its smart nodes and up to three independent lighting circuits with its cabinet lighting controller.

The close strategic co-operation has seen Smartmation customers use the company’s central management system to analyze IoT information more quickly using wireless connectivity. This has resulted in a more efficient lighting infrastructure operation, not only saving Smartmation customers cost but also enabling higher speed and better management.

“With our cloud-based software we have been able to digitize operations, providing instant data and recommendations to managers for higher efficiency,” said Pablo Servent, CEO of Smartmation. “The performance of our products has been significantly improved since we adopted the Quectel GPS and LPWA modules and we see Quectel as a strategic partner rather than a supplier.”

“We’re delighted to have helped Smartmation create a modern and smart alternative to traditional lighting infrastructure operation by enabling the company’s products with our high performance, cost-effective modules,” said Ricardo Simon, Sales Director Latam, Quectel Wireless Solutions. “We’re pleased to be able to support Smartmation in its strategy to digitize smart lighting management.”
