Pulsar Labs Inc. selects Quectel GNSS modules for custom industrial gateways and asset trackers
Pulsar Labs Inc., a specialist in the custom design and manufacture of IoT products for medium-sized and large enterprises, utilizes Quectel modules in multiple products sold across the US, Mexico, and the EU. Founded in 2016 by Stanford University graduates, Pulsar Labs Inc. has evolved from a technology consulting company into an original design manufacturer (ODM) of connected devices, with capabilities spanning engineering, regulatory certification, manufacturing, and logistics.
“The Quectel LC79H(AL) is our primary workhorse global navigation satellite system (GNSS) module because of its versatility, reliability, positioning performance, and competitive price point,” confirms Peter Qu, the Chief Executive Officer of Pulsar Labs Inc. “The Quectel LC76G supports our low-power tracking applications, where energy efficiency is a primary design consideration.”
Material handling and tracking
One recent Pulsar Labs Inc. solution integrates the Quectel LC79H(AL) into an industrial gateway that enables merchandise to be automatically scanned and geo-tagged as it is stored, moved, and delivered. The same solution operates inside warehouses and during transport to customer locations, allowing merchandise to be tracked every few minutes throughout delivery.

GNSS remains a key positioning reference. The LC79H(AL) supports both L1 and L5 signals, bringing the benefits of L5’s higher signal power and advanced signal design to challenging reception environments. In the experience of Pulsar Labs Inc., this has enabled the industrial gateway to acquire a GNSS position inside warehouses with only a few small skylights providing a view of the sky.
Pulsar Labs Inc. combines GNSS with beacon-based real-time location systems (RTLS) and Wi-Fi positioning to extend coverage where satellite reception is limited. By linking location data with RFID readings and image evidence, the solution creates a verifiable record of merchandise storage and delivery.
Critical asset tracking
In another application, Pulsar Labs Inc. developed a rugged asset tracker for a leading supplier of liquefied industrial gases. Designed for mounting on a trailer chassis, the tracker was developed to operate reliably under demanding conditions while meeting a battery-life requirement of up to ten years. Pulsar Labs Inc. selected the Quectel LC76G for its low-power operation, helping the design meet this long service-life requirement.

Working with Quectel
Pulsar Labs Inc. also values Quectel’s well-designed modules and firmware, excellent technical support, and fast issue resolution. Low module-generated noise helps Pulsar Labs Inc. achieve strong GNSS reception, while compatible component footprints and command sets across selected modules allow its designs to support a portfolio of Quectel products.

“We’re proud to continue our relationship with Pulsar Labs Inc., which started initially in 2022 with the Quectel L76L,” says Brandon Oakes, NA Sales Director for GNSS and Short-Range at Quectel Wireless Solutions. “It’s great to see Pulsar Labs Inc. enabling complex industrial IoT gateways with the Quectel LC79H(AL) delivering accurate fixes as its primary workhorse GNSS module. We look forward to supporting Pulsar Labs Inc.’s innovations as the company develops further products for its customers.”
