How to achieve low power consumption for efficient GNSS tracking
GNSS tracking devices must typically be small, cost-effective, easily integrated into the main device – and, crucially, with minimal demands on power supply. GNSS tracking devices which fail to optimize power consumption risk undermining the operational and commercial viability of the end product – not only by increasing energy spend, but also by requiring more maintenance to change batteries or address heat-related wear. Many GNSS tracking devices are required to remain operational over long periods, often in remote or hard-to-reach locations and at considerable unit volumes, making physical intervention post-deployment impractical.
In this Masterclass webinar we offer a deep-dive session on the critical importance of keeping power use down in GNSS tracking applications – exploring how various technological advancements and design techniques can help engineers achieve minimal energy consumption without compromising the effectiveness of their tracking solutions. We’ll consider how low-power functions in GNSS modules such as cyclic tracking mode can achieve major energy savings, and how innovative techniques such as fast TTFF (time-to-first-fix) and switching off parts of constellations can help to minimize active operation time and enhance longevity.
Attendees will benefit from rich experimental data on power consumption metrics in a range of low-power modes and GNSS combinations. We’ll assess the accuracy achievable under various power-saving settings and offer a frank appraisal of the trade-offs between power consumption and tracking performance, helping you strike the right balance between energy use and acceptable levels of reliability for your needs.
This webinar is designed for professionals and enthusiasts in the GNSS and tracking technology space who want to enhance their understanding of power-efficient solutions – view this Masterclass to learn more from our experts and leave with practical strategies to ensure optimal performance in your device while keeping energy consumption to a minimum.
