Interview: LG290P quad-band GNSS module
Senior GNSS Sales Manager EMEA Florian Bousquet discusses our pioneering new quad-band GNSS module, the LG290P, with DigiKey
Quectel recently launched LG290P, the world’s first quad-band GNSS module – and still the smallest and lowest-power – which is ideal for high-precision applications such as outdoor robotics, smart agriculture and surveying. The LG290P offers centimeter-level accuracy in urban areas and can improve RTK fix rates by 50% in challenging conditions.
This means for example that a robotic lawnmower which previously relied on a boundary wire to map a garden can now work without one. The LG290P is also suited to other outdoor robots such as those used for delivery or agriculture, and can be used to great effect in land surveying or tractor steering. And, as security and safety are key concerns for Quectel, especially in autonomous applications, the LG290P offers comprehensive security features including ECC and secure boot.
The LG290P is the first of a series intended to be adaptable to future advancements in GNSS, designed to be capable of incorporating new technologies such as sensor fusion for the vehicle market. As well as future-proofing the module, Quectel can support customers with integrating the new technology into existing systems with our network of field engineers, as well as our commitment to testing products from the user’s point of view. Learn more about this Quectel world-first in our interview with DigiKey at Electronica 2024.
