The Techno Creatives elevate fleet management with Quectel modules and antennas

The Techno Creatives, a global agency founded in 2006 with roots in Gothenburg and Shenzhen, which specializes in ventures, consultancy, and cutting-edge products, has selected several Quectel modules along with antenna design and connectivity for its Elevate cellular IoT system. Elevate is a telematics unit with an integrated general-purpose VCU microcontroller and a platform hosting the fleet management dashboard for monitoring crucial vehicle information. The platform hosts a Fleet Manager system tailored for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) or fleet owners.

The Fleet Manager is white-labelled and customized for each client and collects unique data from their vehicles. In addition, Elevate offers a tailor-made mobile app designed for end-users and personalized for users of specific vehicles, allowing them to access real-time data, manage drivers, make vehicle bookings and utilize secure payment options. Covering a spectrum of IoT services from hardware to user applications, maintenance and hosting, Elevate provides flexibility for tailored solutions based on specific needs.

“By utilizing our platform, we can tailor everything from hardware, firmware and Fleet Manager according to the customer use case,” says Mathias Hultén, the Director of IoT at The Techno Creatives. “We also offer a flexible business model where the customer can purchase the complete IP of the platform or go with a standard SaaS solution. The platform is used to not only monitor fleet data but also to control individual vehicles by, for example, activating the immobilizer.”

Currently implementing Quectel products into its portfolio, The Techno Creatives is using different module variants across its vehicle telematics and fleet management portfolio. “To meet global demand for our products we need to have the option of using multiple modules and Quectel’s product portfolio meets our needs,” adds Hultén. “Today we are integrating the Quectel LC79 and EG915 in various regional variants, but we are also looking into 5G versions and RTK-enabled GNSS modules.”

The Quectel LC79 is an ultra-compact, AIS-140 compliant GNSS module measuring 10.1mm × 9.7mm × 2.4mm, which features a concurrent multi-constellation GNSS receiver on dual GNSS bands. The module supports L1 and L5 bands for GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, BeiDou IRNSS and QZSS. This increases the number of satellites which can be involved in tracking and positioning, thereby significantly reducing the multipath effect from tall buildings in dense urban environments, reducing signal acquisition time and improving positioning accuracy.

The Quectel EG915 is a series of LTE Cat 1 modules optimized specially for M2M and IoT applications. The modules deliver maximum data rates of 10Mbps downlink and 5Mbps uplink. “We’re delighted that The Techno Creatives have selected the Quectel LC79 and EG915 modules to support its Elevate telematics system,” says Patrik Larsson, Regional Sales Director Nordics & Baltics at Quectel Wireless Solutions. “It’s great to be working with an innovative company bringing innovation to the global telematics market and we look forward to supporting The Techno Creatives as they expand their business.”

The Elevate system needs global connectivity with high accuracy GNSS and The Techno Creatives selected Quectel for fleet management because of its large product range with global connectivity options, its high-quality support and competitive pricing. In addition, the company utilizes Quectel’s antenna design offerings.

“The Nordic Quectel team has been very supportive in our IoT development,” adds Hultén. “They have a great customer centric mindset and are really fast in organizing sessions needed for us as a client. Since we have our manufacturing center in Shenzhen, it has been very easy and straight forward when we need attention from Quectel China. We see a great future of this partnership and will utilize more Quectel products going forward.”
