Job summary

The sales manager, Smart SOM/COM is responsible for driving growth of Quectel System On Module/Computer On Module business across North America. This position reports to the director of smart module sales and works in tandem with the North American territory sales managers, smart module product development manager, and channel sales network. This position is expected to maximize growth through dedicated focus on hunting and winning competitor accounts, as well as growing existing accounts that may or may not use Quectel Smart SOM/COM products today. This is a fast-paced position that will require focus and an analytical and methodological approach to sales.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform an overlay segment sales role to the North America Sales Team, working closely with team members to drive and grow business in Smart SOM/COM.
  • Support Quectel’s profit and growth targets by successfully meeting specified key performance indicators (KPIs) that include number of meetings, quotes, technical evaluations, and design wins.
  • Establish a thorough and complete understanding of Quectel’s business and extensive product and service portfolio. Employ this knowledge to successfully sell Quectel’s Smart SOM/COM products to both current and prospective customers.
  • Support the Smart Module Product Team as needed in sales, operations, process and QA improvements.

New and targeted customer outreach:

  • Hunt for prospective customers and actively grow the sales funnel.
  • Support the product roadmap by ensuring Quectel is designing and inventorying the correct Smart SOM/COM products for the North America market.
  • Maintain a funnel of prospective customers and ensure they move through the sales process. Ensure Smart SOM/COM targets are available in a prospecting report in Actus.
  • Connect with any potential customer leads to grow Quectel’s customer base with the support of Quectel’s marketing and inside sales teams.
  • Create strong relationships and drive design wins with prospective customers through consistent communication and assistance including attending in person and online meetings.
  • Set up Masterclass sessions with the support of the Marketing and HQ Product Team and other promotional initiatives to drive Smart SOM/COM sales.
  • Hold Smart SOM/COM focused hunting sessions with the North America Sales Team to drive outreach.

Account management:

  • Work with the North America Sales Team to manage existing customers, including organizing in-person meetings and business reviews to review the customer’s current and future product portfolio and their Smart SOM/COM requirements/needs.
  • Drive Smart SOM/COM revenue by moving customers through the sales cycle, from customer acquisition to shipping, with a strong emphasis on the technical evaluation stage, when they are testing/sampling Quectel products.
  • Maintain relationships with all existing and prospective customers to ensure ongoing and continued sales and to ensure all are visited in person on a regular basis.
  • Work closely with field application engineers and product managersto ensure that customers’ technical questions are answered and to help to escalate any technical issues that may arise.
  • Cooperate with colleagues globally to ensure that customers and their manufacturing/development partners are supported in all global locations.
  • Work closely with the dedicated Commercial Specialist Team to manage forecasting and backlog related to Smart SOM/COM products and to ensure growth trends.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 Years experience in sales and/or a customer-facing technical or product position.
  • Experience in Smart System On Module/Computer On Module technology required.
  • Familiarity with embedded high level operating systems such as Android, Yocto Linux, and Ubuntu Linux is highly desirable.
  • Wireless, Cellular, Automotive, or other IoT-related technology experience is a plus.
  • Dynamic, self-motivated, hard-working professional who thrives in a very fast-paced environment. Must have sense of urgency in all aspects of daily work.
  • Strong oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Location is flexible, but Central and Eastern North America locations are a plus.
  • 50% travel in region required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred but not required.
