Legal Specialist – Serbia

Job summary:

The Legal Specialist supports European business operations by drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts while ensuring compliance with regional laws and regulations. The role focuses on legal risk assessment, particularly in areas such as GDPR, employment law, and regulatory compliance across European markets. It includes developing contract templates, conducting due diligence, and implementing regional compliance policies. The position also provides legal support to subsidiaries, manages legal documentation, and delivers training on local and EU compliance standards. The ideal candidate has experience in European commercial contracts, data protection, and employment law, with strong English proficiency.

Location: Belgrade, Serbia.

ON-SITE, Monday - Friday with flexible start between 7:30 - 9:30 AM.

We are looking for: Legal Specialist

Main responsibilities:

• Draft, negotiate and review contracts and agreements related to European clients, suppliers and regional subsidiaries to ensure the compliance of contracts for European business.
• Develop and optimize contract templates exclusive to the European region, and be responsible for the review and verification of business contracts in the European region (including collation of agreement summaries/issue lists).
• Provide legal risk analysis and consultation focusing on the European region, covering core areas such as data compliance (with a focus on GDPR compliance) and regional regulatory requirements.
• Conduct legal due diligence and compliance research related to European legal and regulatory frameworks to support the compliant advancement of regional business.
• Design and implement regional compliance policies based on the local compliance needs of European subsidiaries, and promote the implementation and enforcement of policies within the region.
• Provide specialized legal and commercial consultation for European subsidiaries, focusing on employment compliance (local labor laws of various European countries), regional transaction compliance and tax compliance matters.
• Manage legal document repositories (including data rooms) in strict compliance with European data protection regulations (GDPR) and local legal requirements of European countries such as Serbia.
• Provide localized regular legal training for the Belgrade R&D Center, covering local legal requirements and European compliance standards; handle daily local legal affairs of the R&D Center.

Requirements and preferable skills:

• Bachelors in business or legal.
• 3+ years of experience with commercial contracts in the European region.
• Experience in handling local employment compliance and labor dispute resolution.
• Familiar with data protection laws and regulations in European countries with practical experience.
• English: Proficient
• Candidates who have passed the CIPP/E (Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe) exam will be given priority.
