Quectel Showcases Cutting-edge IoT Modules Targeting Next-gen Smart Cases at Embedded World

Quectel Wireless Solutions showcased its broadest portfolio of cellular and GNSS modules at Embedded World 2020 in Nuremberg from February 25-27th, including their game-changing 5G NR modules, C-V2X innovations, LTE “all-in-one” modules, the new LPWA family as well as new IoT devices from its customers.

Smart Modules Make our Life Easier and More Intelligent

Currently, facial recognition has entered people's daily lives and become increasingly popular in smart payment and smart access control. Smart modules offer an excellent pipeline where devices can utilize massive cloud computing and processing power whenever it's needed. Quectel's Smart Module Day event held at Embedded World showcased the company's powerful smart module product line, success cases, and customer devices.

Being a small form-factor, ready-to-use, computing and communications solution in a single SKU, Quectel's smart modules will not only cut costs significantly but also accelerate time to market, increase reliability and product quality. Quectel's modules are widely used in various verticals, such as vending machines, smart POS, delivery lockers, in-car video streaming and entertainment systems. Additionally, the company's multi-mode smart Cat 6 modules SC600T/SC600Y can support ADAS and Driver Monitoring System (DMS) functions to help enhance driving safety.

Quectel's Collaboration with Microsoft and Qualcomm

Recently, Quectel has collaborated with Microsoft and Qualcomm Technologies to integrate its new LPWA module BG95 with Microsoft's Azure Device SDK. Devices embedded with the BG95 module will gain direct and secure access to Azure's IoT Hub, significantly accelerating time to market. At the show, Quectel made a live demo of its BG95 EVB connecting to the Azure cloud, which uploaded the GPS position information of devices deployed in Shanghai and Shenzhen using OpenCPU mode.

Quectel's BG95 will offer IoT devices end-to-end security capability in order to prevent potential risks by leveraging Azure IoT security features. Targeting global market, the BG95 module is a highly-integrated variant supporting Cat M1, Cat NB2, EGPRS and integrated GNSS. Compared to its predecessor, the module complies with 3GPP Release 14 and delivers enhanced capabilities in power consumption, data rates and hardware-based security.
