NTN modules, also known as satellite communication modules, are designed to enable seamless coverage in remote and underserved areas – bridging connectivity gaps where traditional networks fall short. They achieve this by drawing on wireless communication capabilities from satellites to connect devices travelling through locations not covered by cellular connections, fiber, or copper fixed-line infrastructure. This combination helps NTN modules ensure comprehensive global coverage for seamless connectivity – ideal for a broad range of applications including transportation, energy, maritime, heavy industry and agriculture.
Quectel’s NTN modules, such as the BG95-S5 and BG770A-SN, seamlessly combine terrestrial and satellite communication to enable reliable, low-power connectivity in remote and underserved areas. We provide end-to-end support, from module testing to integration, with robust technical expertise and extensive global experience, to ensure the widest range of use cases can be deployed. Traditionally, the cost of launching new satellites into space resulted in high usage costs, limiting the adoption of NTN modules. However, the reuse of existing geo-stationary equatorial orbit (GEO) satellites and the use of newer low earth orbit (LEO) and medium earth orbit (MEO) satellites is opening up new markets in IoT, automotive and mass-market consumer devices.
We are delighted to be collaborating with Skylo, a leader in this now rapidly growing space, to ensure the widest possible uptake of satellite connectivity’s transformative possibilities. Skylo’s direct-to-device service is live across four continents, with coverage over more than 50 million kilometers squared, in partnership with a wide range of satellite operators, MNOs, tier-1 chipset makers and OEMs. Devices connected over satellite are managed and served by Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN, featuring a 3GPP standards-based cloud-native base station and core. Skylo works with existing operators and device makers to provide subscribers an anywhere, anytime connectivity solution that seamlessly roams between terrestrial and satellite networks.
Join this Masterclass webinar for a deep-dive session on how Quectel’s NTN modules and Skylo’s innovative satellite technology are revolutionizing IoT connectivity.
