Flashnet shines a light on Quectel modules for smart street lighting deployments

Smart street lighting specialist, Flashnet, has chosen Quectel to provide communication modules for its integrated, open protocol, interoperable smart street lighting and IoT platforms for smart cities across the world. Flashnet is a pioneer in street lighting controllers that utilize narrowband-IoT (NB-IoT) or LTE-M connectivity. The company, which is headquartered in Brașov, Romania, provides both the hardware and the software for remote streetlight management, grid awareness and smart city integration.

The company supports large-scale street lighting projects which cover hundreds of cities across six continents, improving operations efficiency and energy management. An important part of Flashnet’s offering is the inclusion of cellular connectivity to enable real-time remote control and monitoring of street lighting.

“We have used hundreds of thousands of Quectel communication modules across varying technologies, including NB-IoT, LTE-M, in our street lighting projects worldwide,” confirms Ioan Chiselita, Chief Technology Officer of Flashnet. “A key advantage has been that the modules support multiple communication technologies and fallback options, allowing us operational flexibility in the field. We have selected Quectel modules for their robust cellular connectivity, global network certification and proven industry reliability.”

Chiselita adds that Flashnet’s flagship deployments include highways in Belgium and city lighting in Washington D.C., Brussels and Santiago. In addition, deployments span Iceland to Cyprus and Saudi Arabia to Chile encompassing operations in diverse climates and infrastructures across Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.
