Quectel’s RM520N-GL 5G module powers Altech’s mission-critical ARTEMIS Mobile solution
Altech is a technological and engineering company specializing in the development and integration of tailored ICT solutions for mission-critical sectors. With over 15 years of experience, the company delivers end-to-end systems for clients in emergency services, security, mobility, and logistics.
The challenge: engineering a robust mobile hub for emergency responders
When developing the ARTEMIS Mobile solution for the Catalan Health Emergency Service (SEM), Altech faced a multifaceted challenge. The system required a cellular connectivity core that was not only exceptionally reliable, but also physically compatible with their embedded design, specifically needing an M.2 connector form factor.
The challenge: a strategic partnership for embedded excellence
Altech turned to Quectel, a global end-to-end IoT solutions provider, to meet these stringent requirements. The decision was driven by the need for proven product reliability, excellent technical support, competitive pricing, and ease of integration.
Quectel’s RM520N-GL 5G module was selected for its robust performance and crucial M.2 form factor. The partnership extended beyond the module, with Quectel also supplying the YEMN926J1A 5G MIMO GNSS Wi-Fi antenna to complete the RF design.
“For our ARTEMIS Mobile solution, reliability and support were non-negotiable. The Quectel RM520N-GL 5G module provides the robust, integrated connectivity foundation we need. This partnership was essential in delivering our tailor-made, end-to-end system for SEM, which combines multi-communication, geolocation, and sensor data into a single, reliable platform for emergency responders.”

About the RM520N-GL 5G module series
The RM520N-GL is part of Quectel’s industrial grade RM520N 5G module series optimized for IoT and eMBB applications. Built to 3GPP Release 16 standards in an M.2 form factor, it supports both 5G NSA and SA modes and is designed for easy migration from Quectel’s existing LTE-A modules.
It features integrated multi-system GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, BDS, Galileo) via Qualcomm’s IZat technology for precise positioning. With extensive global carrier support, a comprehensive set of internet protocols, and drivers for Windows, Linux, and Android, it is suitable for a wide array of devices including industrial routers, gateways, rugged laptops, tablets, and digital signage.
The results: a deployable, differentiated platform
The integration of the Quectel RM520N-GL module was a key component in the deployment of the ARTEMIS Mobile solution in Spain. The platform’s key differentiator is its comprehensive, tailor-made nature, providing the SEM with a complete operational suite from the operator’s website and backend to seamless integration with other service providers.
