Shanghai, China, 26 August 2020: Quectel's EM12-G and RM500Q wireless modules have been selected by LiveU, the live video production specialist. LiveU is the inventor and innovator of cellular bonding, a technique by which cellular modems are combined intelligently to allow the end user to utilize the combined bandwidth. The Quectel RM500Q 5G module is being implemented in LiveU's new LU800 all-in-one production-level field unit, which is designed for live news and dynamic sports coverage. The LU800 offers multi-camera production and superior video and audio capabilities, combined with mission-critical transmission in a native 5G unit. The unit delivers superior 5G performance with up to eight 5G and 4G internal dual SIM modems, supported by high-efficiency internal antennas.
The LU800 includes customized 5G video delivery algorithms and offers full support for 5G network evolution. LiveU's Reliable Transport (LRT™) protocol is now fully optimized to support 5G transmission. The Quectel RM500Q 5G module is optimized for enhanced mobile broadband (eMBB) and IoT applications and has been designed in an M.2 form factor.
