Quectel celebrates its 10th anniversary and is bullish for next decade

SHANGHAI, CHINA – October 26, 2020 – More than 2000 employees from every corner of the world gathered online to celebrate Quectel's 10th anniversary. Patrick Qian, CEO, Norbert Muhrer, CSO & President and Doron Zhang, COO, gave speeches during which they shared the highlights but also the difficult times of the company's 10-year journey towards becoming the world's leading cellular module supplier. In recognition of the loyalty of its staff, awards were given to any employee who had worked at Quectel for ten years to demonstrate gratitude for their support and devotion over the last decade.  





"Why should we make Quectel into such a big company? Because what we do is for the good of society. Since so much good can be done, why not make Quectel as big as possible?" stated Patrick Qian, Quectel CEO. He recalled the start of Quectel in 2010 and reminisced about the setbacks and the achievements of the company since its inception.





In 2010, Patrick and seven other co-founders set up Quectel in a small office in Tianzhou Road in Shanghai with the aim of making it the world's largest module supplier. Today, in 2020, Quectel has over 2000 employees in more than 50 countries around the world, with five R&D centers in Shanghai, Hefei, Foshan, Belgrade and Vancouver. Quectel serves more than 5,500 industrial customers and ranks first in the world in both shipments and sales of IoT modules.





"I have experienced the rapid development in cellular communications technology and witnessed a society which is more efficient and convenient with IoT devices in the last ten years," said Patrick Qian, "Quectel has grown from a little-known company, through hardships and difficulties, into the industry leader.
