Experiences with Its Leading Cellular Modules

Quectel Wireless Solutions Co., Ltd. More than 200 people from the IoT ecosystem attended this event, including chipset makers, carriers and terminal manufacturers. Quectel CEO Patrick Qian, a pioneer in the development of IoT and already leading the 5G module development, made a speech titled “Quectel 5G Modules - the Stepstone into a Global 5G business”. He pointed out that since the foundation in 2010, Quectel has been devoted to bringing the best performance products to customers. With continuous breakthroughs, Quectel 5G modules featuring Qualcomm SDX55 modem will enable OEMs to commercialize their 5G devices and bring better user experiences.

 

 

 

In compliance with 3GPP R15 standards, Quectel industrial-grade 5G modules include RG500Q/RG510Q in LGA form factor and RM500Q/RM510Q in M.2 form factor. The modules support both Sub-6GHz and mmWave bands in SA/NSA operation modes. By having High speed and low latency, they can be used in applications such as gateway, routers, CPE, notebook/tablet, autonomous driving, security/surveillance, AR/VR and high definition live streaming.

 

Lately, Quectel has conducted a successful series of live 5G tests on customer devices powered by its 5G NR Sub-6GHz modules RG500Q and RM500Q in China, North America, and Australia, with random tests showing that the downlink rate reached 649Mbps. In addition, the mmWave module RM510Q has accomplished its first NSA data call over a laptop in lab. The move represents Quectel’s leadership in offering reliable 5G connections based on Qualcomm SDX55 modem to businesses and organizations.

 

There is little doubt that LPWA technology will have a profound impact on the era of digitalization. Quectel has dove into LPWA technologies for more than 3 years and developed the industry’s broadest LPWA module portfolio, facilitating millions of low power IoT connections worldwide.

 

Based on Qualcomm 9205 LTE modem, Quectel’s new generation LPWA modules BG95/BG77 support Cat M1, Cat NB2 and EGPRS (only for BG95) with integrated GNSS capabilities. The new-generation offers enhanced capabilities in low power consumption, VoLTE, mobility, GNSS and security, which make them suitable for battery critical sensor applications such as smart meters, smart cities, trackers, shared bikes, wireless POS, wearables and home appliances.

 

Engineering samples of RG500Q and RM500Q are currently available, with commercial shipment following in Q1 2020.
