Quectel Partners China Mobile to Showcase 5G USB Dongle at GTI Workshop

 

Shanghai, June 25, 2019 - Quectel Wireless Solutions, the leading global supplier of IoT modules, today partnered with China Mobile and Dianyi to demonstrate a 5G USB dongle based on Quectel 5G module RG500Q at the 25th GTI Workshop. Compliant with 3GPP Release 15 specifications and capable of both 5G standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes of operation, the newly launched 5G device is designed for industrial IoT, smart city, smart home, training & education as well as intelligent logistics applications.

 

 

Featuring compact design, the device delivers 5G connectivity on bands of n41/n77/n78/n79 and LTE Category 20+ bands of B1/B3/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28/B34/B38/B39/B40/B41 as well as GNSS capabilities. With support for USB Type-C interface and plug and play, it provides ultra-high-speed and simple 5G communication for industrial routers, residential & enterprise gateways, smart appliance and logistics robots, etc.

 

 

 

 

At the workshop, Raki Zhang, Quectel Marketing Director, made a speech titled “Quectel Modules are Paving the Way for 5G”. He said, “With China granting 5G licenses to operators on June 6 to accelerate its 5G application, countries all over the world are pushing their 5G commercial uses. The launch of 5G Dongle with China Mobile and Dianyi marks a ground-breaking step towards 5G and a testament to Quectel’s expertise to support customers’ 5G deployments in top global markets.”

 

 

 

 

On June 25, GTI released “GTI 5G S-Module Whitepaper (v2.0)” composed by China Mobile, Sprint, Quectel, Qovor, Hisense, Rohde & Schwarz, Keysight, Anritsu as well as other industrial partners at the same workshop. The newly-launched 5G USB Dongle complies with specifications of 5G S-Module All-in-one Type-L defined in this whitepaper.

In early 2019, Quectel launched its 5G modules RG500Q/RM500Q and RG510Q/RM510Q featuring Qualcomm Snapdragon X55, which were unveiled as one of global first 5G modules at the Debut of 5G 2.6GHz End-to-end Products held at GTI Summit.
