On February 24,2017, Quectel Wireless Solutions attended the 18th GTI Workshop in Barcelona, Spain, and delivered a speech concerning its LPWA modules, which received applause from audiences on site.

The workshop was a regular meeting organized by GTI from February 23-24, with more than 150 experts from operators, vendors, verticals and other partners gathering to communicate, as well as to address and discuss key issues and latest progress in TD-LTE, its revolution and 5G development.

Quectel’s Sales Manager David Baró said NB-IoT has the advantages of better coverage and massive connection, enabling the technology with infinite potential in future applications. Also, the licensed spectrum network makes NB-IoT more stable and reliable.

Quectel’s NB-IoT BC95 module, which was launched in the second half of 2016, is among the first NB-IoT modules which are compliant with 3GPP R13 standards. Currently, it has been successfully applied in many fields, including smart metering, smart home, asset tracking, automatic parking, security and industrial sensors.

BG96, another LPWA module developed by Quectel, supports multi-mode CAT M1 and CAT NB1. It is compatible with NB-IoT BC95, GSM/GPRS module M95, and UMTS module UG96 & UG95, so that the clients can design and upgrade their products on a rapid and flexible basis.

Up to now, Quectel has been working closely with many industry leaders to empower their products and services with intelligence, such as Hisense, Philip, BOSCH and Honeywell, according to David Baró.

At the ongoing MWC 2017 in Barcelona, Sanchuan and Quectel will show a live demonstration of an NB-IoT enabled water meter with Vodafone, to demonstrate how NB-IoT technology is revolutionizing the water meter industry.
